Mexican Secret Garden
A Colourful Mexican Inspired Garden Wedding Shoot at The Avalon in London
Mexico holds a special place in my heart; I spent 3 months studying in Cuernavaca, and grew up in the Southwest. The food, language, art, colors, dancing, history …maybe I’m biased, but it’s all beautiful. When planning this Mexican inspired shoot, Ashleigh of Pink Palms Eventsand I drew from the incredible art and colors that Mexico is known for. We also chose all of the elements to reflect an alternative couple who wants lots of fun colors, but a romantic moody feel.
The looks
Our amazing model Gracewas the best sultry bride, with a great sense of humor. The day was on the chilly side (surprise surprise for London springtime), and she was such a good sport for wear this gold-and-gorgeous breezy summer dress by Rose Joyce Designs. The talented Kaleigh Kdid her makeup, and gave her a classic yet bold red lip and gold eyes. Lynn from Bridal Hair and Makeup Artistsstyled her hair, and did the most fabulous job with her up-do style, and later on efforless waves.
The groom-to-be is our awesome model Sergiu, who was such a natural. He even came wearing his personal matching yellow socks and an orange tie, like a champ! Completeing his look is a gold custom-made wedding band from Nikki Stark Jewelry (more rings from her later one), and a bright yellow boutonniere from our rockstar flourist Charlie Macauley Flowers.
The details
This gorgeous cake was created custom for the shoot from Cupcakes + Shhht, a 100% vegan bakery in Elephant & Castle. It’s vegan, and gluten free, but you would never know that by the taste.
Charlotte at Charlie Macauley Flowers created the most colorful, eclectic, and lively floral garden atmosphere for our shoot. We are also all obsessed with the tiny pink pineapples! All the warm tones keep the vibe romantic and sultry, but the bursts of pink add so much energy. Ashleigh from Pink Palm Styling was the master mind behind organizing all of the tables, decor, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It has some touches from my favorite Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, succulents and cacti for a Southwestern shoutout, Jaritos sodas, and Cholula hot sauce. All of the decor items were sourced from the UK too!
The talented Emily from Letters From Emilydesigned all of the wedding stationary. I just love the flower designs paired with the font, which is so elegant yet screams “FIESTA”! Pretty enough to frame…so we did. We also wrote our menu with gluten free and vegan choices, because everyone should be able to enjoy the spoils at a wedding 🙂
Nikki Stark Jewelrydesigned these versitle stacking wedding and engagement rings, and they can be custom ordered, or bought as they are from her online shop. Who says you can only have one engagement or wedding ring?! Also, colorful gem stones are way more interesting, afordable, and scream personality than the standard diamond (in my opinion).
The Moments
The Video
Simon from Hargreaves Filmscaptured the shoot in a stunning video. Staying true to our Mexican vibes, he used classical guitar music to set the tone, and perfectly shows how the day came to life from prep to cake.
In the middle of london, in a secret back garden of the bustling Avalon Pub, we created a Mexican romantic getaway that can make anyone fall in love. The suppliers made this photoshoot come alive, and I cannot thank everyone enough for thier hard work and positive attitudes. Also, a big thanks to Bespoke Bridefor publishing our shoot! We love their blog and how they promote unique and fun wedding suppliers (and they’re insta stories are hilarious)!.
